Day 228 - Finding Strength in Faith: The Apostle's Journey of Overcoming Confusion and Fear

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Your journey: finding strength in faith, believing in the Holy Spirit and the truths Jesus left you.

But what I am saying is true: my going is for your good: for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. And he, when he comes, will make the world conscious of sin, and of righteousness, and of being judged:
Of sin, because they have not faith in me;
Of righteousness, because I go to the Father and you will see me no more;
Of being judged, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
I have still much to say to you, but you are not strong enough for it now. However, when he, the Spirit of true knowledge, has come, he will be your guide into all true knowledge: for his words will not come from himself, but whatever has come to his hearing, that he will say: and he will make clear to you the things to come. He will give me glory, because he will take of what is mine, and make it clear to you. Everything which the Father has is mine: that is why I say, He will take of what is mine and will make it clear to you.. (John 16.7-15 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Imagine the confusion the disciples experienced as the time for Jesus grew close to an end. We know from Scripture that Jesus prepared them both in actions so they could see how they should act, and he taught them through word, story, and parable. Yet they believed in slow measure. Even Peter denied Christ 3 times, though he had witnessed miracle after miracle.

Confusion and fear are human and expected. The turning point is, can you put them aside and walk in pure faith? That is what the apostles did, and while they suffered here on earth to tell the world of Christ, they brought many to Jesus and the Father. They still do through the legacy of the New Testament. Their words fill hearts and minds daily with the wonders of the Father. The Holy Spirit enabled them and stands with you to do the same. The Holy Spirit is your helper; do not be afraid. Accept and hear the Holy Spirit, and then continue moving forward as the Holy Spirit leads you to share your joy with others.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, my helper, I am so glad you are always here with me. I know there are many things you do every day to help me succeed in growing closer to the Father. Jesus gave us such a gift with you. I can't imagine how I could function and find happiness without you, ever the guide to goodness in all I do. I appreciate you and that you are always ready to help. I only have to accept your guidance. You teach me so much. If I pay attention, I grow daily in your love. Thank you. Please continue to help me and nudge me to take your passion a little further every day. Help me gain the courage to be what God sees me becoming. I am on a journey to finding strength in faith. I am so happy to be on it with you, Jesus, and our Father. Amen.
