Day 225 - Can Your Thoughts and Actions Block the Holy Spirit's Assistance?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

My thoughts and actions block the Holy Spirit when I am willful and want my way.

Are you aware that your thoughts and actions can cause the Holy Spirit to become unavailable to you? That you have the power to decide whether the Holy Spirit guides and instructs you? You can invite the Holy Spirit into your life and receive help in living a life full of wisdom, resulting in your living a fuller, happier life.

You have only to invite the Spirit's presence to be with you and remain open and willing to learn and grow from the Holy Spirit's guidance.

For those who despise wisdom and instruction are doomed.
Vain is their hope, fruitless their labors,
and worthless their works. (Wisdom 3.11 New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE))
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be your teacher in all things and will put you in mind of everything I have said to you. (John 14.26 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Holy Spirit, I invite you into my life. Please do not leave me for even a moment. I need you continually to help me know what actions to take and words to use as I go through my day. I see you are the voice in my ear, mind, and heart, constantly trying to suggest and protect me, and I am grateful for your protection. My life goes astray when I do not listen when I think I know better. I do believe my thoughts and actions block the Holy Spirit when I am willful and want my way.

Somewhere inside of me, I knew you were there trying to help me, yet I ignored your help. I am sorry that was foolish of me. Forgive me, and please continue to help me in any way you can. This world is complex, and knowing what to do is difficult. With you as my guide, I know I will succeed in following the Father's path. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for forgiving my blindness and humanity. Thank you, Jesus, for giving me my salvation and asking the Father to share the Holy Spirit with all humankind. Thank you, God, for all these things and everything for which I do not offer gratitude, but I should. Amen.
