An artist from a toddler...

Before I started school, I remember the sun melting my crayons in a treasured Green Giant tent in the backyard. I was more upset that my crayons were ruined. Little did I know that you could later say that was my first exposure to making encaustic art. 

​

​Art and becoming an author are my passions. Since April 2021, I have been writing and creating art for a new Devotional, Finding Your Creative Bones. The devotional is based on a 9-month journey inspired by God to read the Bible from cover to cover in one year. While reading the Bible, I felt led to record thoughts, hopes, and prayers relevant to that day's readings. In addition, I felt called to either create a tangle or choose an existing tangle to enhance the reader's faith and meditation experience. Below is an example of a tangle on one of the pages.

​I felt an 800-page book limited how quickly I could make the devotions available, so I am publishing a 12-volume series of paperback and e-books that include daily doodling and journaling pages so that your experiences are personal. Each day will also be featured as a daily post within the Finding Your Creative Bones blog. It is important to me that everyone has access to the devotions.

​I am a self-taught Mixed Media Artist, a natural experimentalist, an abstract painter, and a teacher. I teach Finding Your Joy in Abstract Painting; Color, Contrast, and Pattern in Skillshare. 

I have always been fascinated with mark and pattern making, so developing a love for Zentangle was a natural evolution for my art. In 2020, I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher, CZT, in the 36th class of certifications. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My art has become more vibrant and rich with every stroke of my pen.  I teach in-person, online, and on-request classes.

​I have two precious pups, Reckless and Buddy,  and we love to RV, ATV, fish, and have fun outdoors. We live on a lake in Huntsville, Texas, and are constantly entertained by Heron, River Otters, Geese, and turtles. During the summer of 2021, we spent 5 weeks in Colorado working on my book and having fun with friends. What a wonderful experience.

 

Here are a few fun & life-changing facts about me

• Reckless, Buddy and I were in the Nashville 2020 Tornado on our first solo trip in the RV. It was scary hiding in the laundry room with 20 other people.

• I learned how to make ceramics in grade school

• I learned to paper mache and crochet in middle school. At the same time, writing and poetry became a passion.

• I learned to sew in high school; quilting later became a passion and an art form that led me to deep friendships I still treasure.

• I am left and right-brained

• I am a Certified Project Manager, ITIL Expert, and formerly certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT. I managed Project Managers for most of my career locally and globally.
