Day 1 - Beginning to Understand God as Creator and that You Have been Made a Creative Also

Updated: Jan 13

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Why do we struggle to understand God as our creator?

We have only to recognize His compassion for humans, starting with Adam, to comprehend the magnitude of His love for us from the beginning. Imagine the moment the Lord decided to make a man. Then, consider the love God must have felt as he, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus willed us into being.

Picture our Lord pursing his lips, blowing a kiss upon the Earth

and

humans, we were born.

Not only did he give birth to us, but he also gifted Adam with creating a name for every living creature, including the first woman. Imagine you are looking at something you made, your family, art, food, or your home. How would you feel giving someone else the right to name what you created? Knowing that name would last forever, yet its essence is yours? Knowing that from that day forward, everyone would consider that thing the other person's since they named it. That example of transferring love is mighty if we stop and think about it. This is a beautiful example of what humankind should do daily for others, putting others first.

God could have kept that joy for himself, but instead, he shared the creation of our world with Adam, a soon-to-be flawed human. God forever gifted humanity with ownership and responsibility for our planet. Adam was given the gift of naming every animal on Earth. This was one of the first signs that we, too, are creative beings by birth, by our very inherited nature, and that we have a God-given responsibility to use our creativity in every kind of way. This was also a clear example of God indicating we have free will. He gifts us the choice between right and wrong for ourselves. God trusts us to do right and make good decisions.

God knew from the beginning that Adam and Eve and all of humankind would struggle because we were created with the gift of free will. God trusted us to determine how to keep growing and trying for the better and the best. To become more and more faithful and faith-filled. Our Father believes in us. God believes in YOU.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, the creator of all that matters, accept my gratitude for these gifts of birth, creativity, choice, and trust. You made me in your image, and I recognize that I inherited your creativity and imagination. I seek your loving face each day anew. I want better to understand God as my creator and you, Lord. You are there in my struggles, as you are there in my creative and confident moments.

You are just there, and I know it.

Continue to strengthen me to overcome the difficulties in your name.

Thank you for my life, all that it has been and will be, and for all that is in it and will be in it. I know this is your gift, and I am grateful. Please guide my use of your talents and my need to create in my way, lead me always, and trust me to follow you, even when I am lost.

In your precious and glorious son's name, Jesus Christ. Amen
