Day 316 -What Does it Mean to You to be Baptized?

What does it mean to be baptized?

Have you given much thought to Baptism? What does it mean to be baptized? Were you so young that you have no memories if you were baptized? Draw a picture with your mind's eye of the people who came to John the Baptist seeking something they yearned for but did not know how to achieve. Crowds of people expecting something but not knowing what... They asked what we should do. His answer was simple, but is the same for us. Serve others, be kind and generous, be fair and never cheat another, give more than you take, show love, and in return, receive love more generous and fulfilling than you ever expected. John brought many to the anticipation of Christ through Baptism. He knew he was not able to get them to fulfillment. Only Jesus could do that, but he could make them ready to receive the gift of Jesus' redemption and the Holy Spirit when they said yes to Jesus.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, from birth, I may have had the knowledge deep within that I was incomplete. While happy, I began the journey to find you and the parts of me not yet mature in my faith. Even today, the journey continues, but with Jesus, I am filled to near overflowing, and with each prayer, I am filled just a bit more. I know on the day I am filled to overflow; you will bring me home to continue growing in your light. I do not want to rush this day, but I want you to know that I am grateful to know it will come. Thank you, Lord, for blessing, loving, and cherishing me so I always love you. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen
