Learning through the power of wisdom: discerning right and wrong through the Holy Spirit.
There are not enough words to adequately express the power of wisdom in our lives. Solomon speaks about what he learned of wisdom.
Sincerely I learned about her, and ungrudgingly do I share—
her riches I do not hide away;h
For she is an unfailing treasure;
those who gain this treasure win the friendship of God,
being commended by the gifts that come from her discipline.*
Now God grant I speak suitably
and value these endowments at their worth:
For he is the guide of Wisdom
and the director of the wise.
For both we and our words are in his hand,
as well as all prudence and knowledge of crafts.i (Wisdom 7.13-17 New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE))
Seek wisdom, the voice of God, for she is great counsel. She is always steadfastly guiding you in the direction God wants you to go. With wisdom comes the ability to discern right and wrong, true good and evil. Use your wisdom and heap blessings on the Holy Spirit to continually renew your fountain of knowledge and understanding.
Are you using the power of wisdom: discerning right and wrong through and with the Holy Spirit? Each day, you can become wiser than the last if you listen, ponder, and understand whether or not your thoughts and desires feel like something is of God. You will know if it is good or evil based on your inner voice and knowledge. Most likely, it is good and worth pursuing if you do not recognize evil. If you doubt, you might already know what to do but do not want to accept that it is unworthy of your attention.
God guides wisdom, the Holy Spirit. God shows you through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God within you. The Holy Spirit exists within you always, from birth to last breath. Don't ignore the preciousness with you. Instead, rejoice, for God lives through you and everyone ever born.
Prayer:
Precious, precious Spirit within me, I thank you for loving and guiding me through every thought, action, and experience of my life. I know I have been unwilling to accept your guidance at times. I see that clearly, and I am sorrowful knowing my willfulness caused me to turn my back on you and God. Recognizing and accepting this is mortifying, and I feel shame. I know you want me to feel genuine sorrow and repent. There is real sorrow in my heart, and I gratefully repent my sin with confidence that you will forgive me. I understand that you do not ask me to feel ashamed. That shame is used by evil to become a wedge that slowly pulls me away from you. With shame, I feel detached from you. Today, I offer that shame to you and sincerely apologize for my thoughts and actions that were not of God. With your forgiveness, I am crossing the chasm between us and securely putting my hand in God's hand.
With your help, I can turn my back on past bad decisions forever. Heal the part of me that is weak. Strengthen my love for you to give me the ability always to be strong and just. It is only with the Father, Jesus Christ, and you that I will not only survive the weaknesses inherent in my humanness but also thrive through them because of you three. To do less is to let you down; my love will not let that happen. Holy Spirit, ever wise and knowledgable, I thank you with all I am for you being a living part of God within me. Amen.
