Day 248 - Prophecy: Understanding the Role of Prophets in the Bible

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

It is still essential to watch for prophets. The role of prophets in the Bible is still applicable today.

Prophecy: Throughout the Bible, prophets, either human or celestial, occur. These prophets foretold what was to come, either good or bad. Most had an action associated with them. Agabus heard from the Spirit that starvation was coming to the world. The Lord did this so the believers could prepare. The disciples did what they could to help others survive.

You may never be graced with prophetic knowledge, but you should believe that prophecy still occurs. With an open heart, you may one day hear or see the Lord, one of his Angels, or another believer speak prophetic words to you. You only have to believe, pray, prepare, and be ready.

Holy Spirit, you give us wisdom, knowledge, conscience, and grace as you see need and readiness. If needed, I know that you will employ someone living or of heaven to take the role of prophet, as you did in the Bible, for your request. I ask you to continue helping me prepare and to ensure I listen if you call or I am approached by one of your choosing. Please do not accept a no or lack of action on my part. Quench my fear and fill my feet with purpose. Enable me to fulfill your desire and to work with all you put in my path. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
