Day 54 - There is a Price To Be Paid When Judgment Comes So Easily to People

Updated: Jan 20

We have begun to realize the pain we receive when judgment comes so easily to humanity.

For every man's life and every man's death has a relation to others as well as to himself. As long as we have life we are living to the Lord; or if we give up our life it is to the Lord; so if we are living, or if our life comes to an end, we are the Lord's. And for this purpose Christ went into death and came back again, that he might be the Lord of the dead and of the living. But you, why do you make yourself your brother's judge? or again, why have you no respect for your brother? because we will all have to take our place before God as our judge. (Romans 14.7-10 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
So then, let us go after the things which make peace, and the things by which we may be a help to one another. (Romans 14.19 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Judgment comes so easily to many of us. Why is it so difficult to resist coming up with our thoughts on someone else's actions? Why can't we accept and understand that judging others is not our right? That judgment is a form of hate and evil. Many understand but will not get that our role isn't as broad as our minds think it should be.

Yes, this is an area where most struggle. How can you resist? There is nothing that will make you stop other than yourself. But you do not have to do it alone. God is with you and can help you refrain from judgment of others. With prayer, you can quickly censor your thoughts if you feel judgment slipping in. Pray for forgiveness, love, and guidance when it is happening. Remember, Jesus was a great example of someone who did not judge. Instead, he filled his heart and mind with love. With Jesus, we can change if we continually work on it and adopt love as our response. This world would be better and easier to live in if we could learn how to accept others. After all, we can never know what is in another person's heart. It is far too easy to misunderstand another and judge wrongly.

Prayer:

Like many people, I am guilty of judging others. I have allowed that judgment to hurt not only myself but also others. Forgive me for this attempt at taking on your role. You are Lord, and I have no right to take your responsibility. Please forgive me and heal me so I am not tempted to judge. Fill my heart with love and acceptance. I know with you I will learn. For this, I am grateful and thank you for forgiving me. Give me a strong heart that loves and does not give in to weakness. I want to walk in your light. In the light-filled love of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen
