Day 177 - Lord, You Are the One and True Judge

Lord, you are the one and true judge of all of humanity.

Bildad again speaks to Job. Job replies, praising the power of the Lord. He refuses to speak badly despite being in pain and incredibly miserable. He is faithful. He refuses to accept the guilt that Bildad and the others try to put on him. They assume he is to blame for his misery. But he refuses to take it as he is confident that he never strayed from his faith and belief in God. Yet he continued to treat those speaking against him with respect.

Bildad, Eliphaz, and others fell into the trap of judging Job and condemning him. They did not treat Job with respect. You can learn from their mistake. We never know what is happening with someone else. When we judge, we do so based on assumptions, not necessarily facts. The only being who knows the whole truth is God. In the case of Job, Job knew he had not sinned, but even he had no idea of the role of The Satan in the tortures he endured. We can learn to prevent ourselves from falling into the sin of judging if we think of Job's examples.

Another consideration is you never know what mission another person may have. You have no idea of what the Lord is telling them. Without this information, can you properly form a valid opinion? Is it possible that you could compromise their ability to complete their goal if you judge? No one can know the heart and mind of another. You see results on the surface but cannot know the story. Just as they cannot know yours, rather than judge, ask for the grace of acceptance and the wisdom of God.

Prayer:

Lord, you are the one and true judge of all of humanity. Help me let you stay in that role in my life. Holy Spirit, remind me if I try to judge, it is not my role. Help me instead grow a more open and loving mind to others. Judging hurts me as much or more than the person I am judging. Help me learn how better to save myself from evil. I trust you and love you. Jesus Christ, my redeemer, help me have your heart of acceptance and understanding. For all of these areas, I ask for each of your help. I seek you, Lord, and need you. Amen.

Very true. We never know what another is going through. Thanks for the reminder of no judging, keeping an open mind and heart.

Thank you for this reminder. So true that we don’t know God’s purpose for someone else. We don’t even know half of what they are going through.

I enjoyed the post.
