Finding the strength to understand and represent your beliefs.
And he said to them all, If any man has a desire to come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross every day, and come after me.
For whoever has a desire to keep his life will have it taken from him, but whoever gives up his life because of me, will keep it.
For what profit will a man have if he gets all the world, but undergoes loss or destruction himself?
For if any man has a feeling of shame because of me or of my words, the Son of man will have shame because of him when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.. (Luke 9.23-26 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
The twelve disciples of Jesus struggled at times to see and accept the truth of Jesus, but they witnessed so many miracles. It is no wonder we struggle to understand and represent our beliefs. Do you sometimes avoid being honest about what it means to be a true believer? Believing requires action and demonstration of faith before others. Jesus was an excellent example of this. He was all action and truth in his message. All you do should represent Christ to others. Does it? Put your fear of what others might say if you represent Jesus Christ aside. Cast all of your doubts away. People need to see you stand firm in your belief. They need it for their growth, and you need it for confidence. You are letting them and yourself down if you do less. Have courage and stand as an example to others for our Lord and Jesus. In doing so, you will give the people and yourself the greatest of gifts.
Prayer:
Son of God, beautiful Jesus, forgive me for sometimes lacking strength. I can be weak and worry about what others think rather than you and my relationship with you. Forgive me.
I will overcome my fear and represent your glory to others with you. I believe, truly and completely, so there is no choice. Strengthen me in times of weakness, and I will firmly demonstrate and represent you and your love for everyone I encounter. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen
