Day 266 - Are You a Human that Resists God?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Why do humans resist God?

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. (Isaiah 42.16 Bible in Basic English (BBE)

The Lord promised to bring us to the light and lead us to places we do not know. He promises to lead, not demand.

Scripture talks about all creatures bowing to the Lord, yet humans resist God.

What sets us apart? Choice and free will.

Prayer:

Lord, you do not constrain us; you love us enough to treat us as the thinking beings you made us to be. I am grateful that I am not a human who resists God, but I occasionally stumble and hesitate. Forgive me. I ask you to accept my gratitude for the gift of choice. I know there are probably many occasions where my choices must frustrate you, yet you let me choose. Thank you. I appreciate your concern for me and the restraint you use with me. We both know you can make life easy, yet that might eliminate our ability to choose. What would I learn? How would I grow? Your restraint is the true gift of love, and I thank you. Bless you, Father. I pray with love and joy for you, your beautiful son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen
