Day 26 - Believing in God Whether You See His Actions or Not

For many, believing in God seems impossible without seeing.

"And when Moses' hand was stretched out over the sea, the Lord with a strong east wind made the sea go back all night, and the waters were parted in two and the sea became dry land. And the children of Israel went through the sea on dry land: and the waters were a wall on their right side and on their left. (Exodus 14.21-22 Bible in Basic English (BBE))"

As Israel fled Pharoh's pursuit, they saw the miracle of God parting the sea. The path was clear and marked, so they saw, ran, and believed.

We may not have the opportunity to see God perform a grand miracle as the Israelites did, but yet the grace of God surrounds us. Sometimes, faith alone is what we must live by. Other times, we are given a glimpse into the mystery of God that is in all human lives. Believing in God no matter what can become our tie to finding peace when it seems there is none to be found.

What prevents you from full belief? People, things, worry? God awaits us, hoping you will unencumber yourself and break the chains that keep you from opening yourself to him. Keep at it. You can do this. If this is new to you, you may experience a peace you may not have felt before. Perhaps a peace that you may not understand, but accept the grace and do not question it. Instead, relish in it. Enjoy the experience of your blessing and later remember it as a sign never to fail to believe even though you do not see. Let it provide comfort for your fear and uncertainty.

Prayer:

God, I always want to believe. I do not want to need to see, yet I know if I open my eyes, I will see. Although I do see, I do not always accept what I see. It doesn't affect me the way it should. My senses are dulled, and I am sorry. Strip the old thoughts from me, free me from the agony of depriving myself of you. Please take me back to a state where I am nothing other than ready, grateful, and action-oriented for you. You can do this. I can do this through you and the love of Jesus.

Continue molding me and allowing only the best of me to remain. Help me leave behind those thoughts and things unworthy of you. Jesus, let me shine in your light and love for all I meet. Amen
