Day 151 - Lord, With a Grateful Heart, I Thank You

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

With a grateful heart, I thank you, Lord, for everything.

How many times do we constrain God? Put our timetable on his response to our prayers. Have you ever attempted to tell him how something must be done?

This is a waste of our time and foolishness because, in doing so, we are making God less than he is. We are thinking arrogantly, although most likely not with that intention. To tell God how to do something or when it must be done is useless and self-defeating. It assumes that we know what the future must be. We can hope but do not know what the future should hold. It is impossible even to understand what our request will do and how it will affect us and all around us.

What if you pray for the desired result but leave it open to God to accomplish it in his way and time?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you bless me so greatly, and I thank you. You know I have desires, and you know what they are. Please guide my prayer requests to understand that something will happen if it is your will and time. If my requests are not the ones I should be focused on, guide my heart and mind to release them. You will provide all I need, and I accept this as enough. More than enough, and I am grateful for your receipt of my prayers and all results. With a grateful heart, I thank you. Amen.

I like the idea of asking, then waiting in curiosity to see if it’s also God’s wish. If so, when?
