Day 98 - May We All Be Like David

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Think ambitiously, be like David.

David continued to battle the Philistines and others who were against Israel. David sought any remaining descendants of Saul so that he could return their land and property to them.

He was told of Meribaal, who was lame in both feet. David gave him the property and invited him to always sit at his table to eat. So Meribaal did. David's kindness to Hanun, King of the Ammonites, was rebuffed because evil people planted ideas about David trying to trick them. As a result, they went to battle with David. David's army was stronger.

David was a kind person and fierce in loyalty and battle. He is truly an example for us, especially in light of the persecution he experienced from Saul due to his jealousy. May David stand as an example of goodness in his prayers to God, love of others, and strength of character. He truly cared and showed it consistently.

Prayer:

God, today I am thinking of David. He was good, fierce, and a true believer in you. Please help me be like David. He knew how to forgive and be honorable. There is so much I can learn from the way he lived life. You loved him for his goodness, and he was among your chosen. I can see why. I am not David, nor do I face the difficulties he had to face, but I would like to exemplify his goodness. Whisper truths to me when I need to make decisions that will help me be a great person for you. I am grateful for that and the opportunity to grow others' faith in you. Amen.
