Day 303 - Scripture Suggests that You Find Joy in Times of Challenge

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Can you find joy in times of challenge?

Let it be all joy to you, my brothers, when you undergo tests of every sort;
Because you have the knowledge that the testing of your faith gives you the power of going on in hope;
But let this power have its full effect, so that you may be made complete, needing nothing.. (James 1.2-4 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Perseverance: what is meant when we see the word perseverance? To persevere in our faith? Perhaps it can be best described as never wavering in your belief in the Lord, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. To prevent even a trace of doubt from flickering in your mind and heart. You might wonder how humans can be steadfast and genuine in our faith. It is not an easy task, but it may be easier to sustain once achieved. Remember when people read the book "What Would Jesus Do?" they wore bracelets with WWJD and used the phrase continually? Remembering this question is a great way to keep Jesus and the Lord first in your mind.

There is no room for doubt if you respond to every situation, thought, and action from a "What Would Jesus Do?" perspective. Any doubt on what to do can quickly be pushed out with the knowledge that whatever is loving, kind, and caring is what Jesus would do. Take that action and follow the example of Christ. You will never be led astray or do wrong. You will demonstrate perseverance and truly persevere. And you will see that you can find joy in times of challenge.

Lord, I pray that you remind me to persevere in faith and always consider my actions, thoughts, and speech from the perspective of "What Would Jesus Do?". Let this simple yet powerful thought erase all shreds of doubt and fill my heart and mind with the knowledge of what actions are required and that I am yours today and always. I want to leave no room for doubt anywhere within myself. Eradicate all thoughts of concern from my mind. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen
