Paul's faith. An Angel of the Lord assured him he should believe.
When Paul was a prisoner on a ship headed to Italy, they ran into a terrible storm, nearly driving all on board mad with its fury. Paul had warned them not to sail at that time of year, but they did not take him seriously. They were caught in the storm for 14 days, refusing to eat because of fear. Paul encouraged them by breaking bread with prayers of thanksgiving. Paul knew they were to survive. An Angel of the Lord had visited him, asking Paul to have no fear, for they would survive. Paul knew he was safe in the hands of God. He did not fear death because he believed in everlasting life and Jesus.
Lord, make all believers and those who will believe as strong as Paul in our faith. Rescue us from our doubts and replace them with a sincere desire to know you more completely. As I learn more about you and what you have done throughout time, I know more confidently than ever that you are there. Turn me and all believers into believers with overwhelming faith and love for you, humanity, and all on earth. This faith will make our world better and happier today and tomorrow. Help us each do our part in the journey from believers to completely trusting believers. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen
