Day 137 - Can You Follow Simon's (Peter's) Example?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Follow Simon's (Peter's) example of belief. Just believe.

Jesus Christ spoke to the Apostles.

He says to them, But who do you say that I am? And Simon Peter made answer and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus made answer and said to him, A blessing on you, Simon Bar-jonah: because this knowledge has not come to you from flesh and blood, but from my Father in heaven. And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock will my church be based, and the doors of hell will not overcome it. (Matthew 16.15-18 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Is God speaking to you as he did Simon (Peter), son of Jonah? The Lord told Simon that Jesus was the Messiah. We see that in this scripture. Simon believed what God spoke to his heart. Yet, Simon did not see God place a crown of gold on our Savior's precious head. He just accepted the truth God gave him.

What truths has the Lord been giving or trying to provide you with? He has likely been there, speaking to you through the inner voice of the Holy Spirit, guiding you all your life. You have a choice, just as your ancestors and Simon did. Throughout, God is there in the background, whispering through the Holy Spirit to your heart to be one with him, stay with him, and grow with him. To serve and rejoice with him, reminding you that you are among the chosen and saved through his beautiful son, the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Majestic King of all worlds. I pray that I can consistently follow Simon's (Peter's) example of believing without seeing. Sometimes, I sense you buzzing in my head, trying to tell me something, yet I can't understand what you are saying. Other times, your thoughts are clear, and how I should move forward is evident. I believe without seeing that you, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are more real than I can ever understand.

I know your guidance is valid and real and will become clear when it should. Forgive my impatience if I want to rush you. It is most likely human instinct driving my impatience, certainly not my imitation of you. I love you more every day as I understand how blessed I am and how wonderful you are. Amen.
