Do you return to God the blessings you have received?
Yours, O Lord, is the strength and the power and the glory, and the authority and the honour: for everything in heaven and on earth is yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are lifted up as head over all. (1 Chronicles 29.11 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
This was after Solomon had observed the people's generosity in sharing their wealth with Solomon to build the temple for God. They gave willingly and meaningfully to contribute to God's Temple. They knew it was their gift to return the blessings they had received to God.
God continually blesses us, so it is just to return blessings to him. Perhaps this is a struggle that you frequently wage within yourself. It is common for us to struggle with determining the right amount to give. Pray and listen. You will be guided in a way suitable for you. It may help you to consider that gifts to God are not always financial. Every skill and talent we have holds the possibility to bless others. Everything we do that brings ourselves and others to a deeper relationship with God is a gift to God. Experience the joy of using your opportunities to return the blessings you have received to God.
Undoubtedly, you, Lord, are the head over all. Guide me in sharing the wealth you have blessed me with. The wealth of talents, skills, and dollars I have received are yours. I want to continue growing my gifts to you. Help me see new and meaningful ways to share the bounty you have generously provided to bless others. Thank you for the rewards of my life. Amen.
