Day 71 - Engaging the Light of Heaven

Are you aware that you are responsible for engaging the light of heaven in your life?

But you are a special people, a holy nation, priests and kings, a people given up completely to God, so that you may make clear the virtues of him who took you out of the dark into the light of heaven. In the past you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; then there was no mercy for you, but now mercy has been given to you. (1 Peter 2.9-10 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

We are a special people. You are a special person in the eyes of the Lord because you are of the people of God. With Jesus, you receive mercy and forgiveness. You and all who believe are made perfect in the eyes of the Lord. This perfection strengthens you and aids you in engaging the light of heaven in your life. The light brings peace and joy into your life.

Consider where you might be if you had not accepted God and Jesus. The statement of moving out of the dark into the light of heaven is powerful. Perhaps your experience resembles God throwing you a rope and leading you from an abyss to the sunshine. Even if you have always known God, recognizing he shines brighter as you move closer is comforting.

Prayer:

Loving Father, I am blessed, and I know it. You and your son are my blessings. There has been darkness in my life, but I do see that every new day is filled with more light than the previous day. As I turn my life over to you in greater and greater ways, the light grows brighter. I see it and want to bask in your Heavenly glow. Thank you for saving me from the evil that exists around all humans. You give me strength of character and will every day. Amen.
