What harm comes into your life if you spend your time seeking the false God of Money?
Mammon, money, and riches. How many spend their lives seeking wealth, some at all costs? In this world, wealth buys many indulgencies and, most likely, a high level of self-satisfaction. What does this satisfaction mean in God's world if your life is spent chasing money above all else? Jesus tells us
No man may be a servant to two masters: for he will have hate for the one and love for the other; or he will keep to the one and have no respect for the other. You may not be servants of God and of wealth. (Luke 16.13 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
When we are lost in the false God of money, we lose our judgment; it is compromised, and our happiness becomes a facade for the emptiness our lives begin to have. To love a thing is to love nothing. Only people, living beings, and our Lord deserve love. To love, truly love, and covet things is to fill your heart with emptiness that ultimately removes any opportunity for pure love. It fills every space like air, leaving no room for anything else.
Prayer:
God of all that is good and pure, help me look at myself honestly. Where do I love things too much? Help me see and change. Only you, people, and other living beings deserve my love. Everything else is a distraction and sacrifices my relationships. I do not want this. I am yours, and I will change. Holy Spirit, please guide my choices to those that are just and loving. I pray in Jesus Christ's name. Amen
