Day 100 - Revenge and Anger Drive Evil Actions With Consequences.

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Do not fall into anything other than love. Revenge and anger drive evil actions with consequences.

Absolom hated his father, David. Yet David forgave Absolom. Then Absolom decided to steal Israel from David.

Absolom's heart was hardened when his father did not act to bring Tamar justice. This resulted in Absolom returning to Jerusalem. Absolom began to take Israel's favor from David. He plotted and advanced, driven by revenge. Revenge and anger drive evil actions with consequences. If we do the same and let bitterness fill us, we will know no true lasting happiness.

If you find yourself with these feelings, pray for forgiveness and let the Lord take care of the penalty for others. Your place is in the freedom of the spirit and the joy you will find when you release your anger and accept the grace and peace of our Lord.

Prayer:

Father, I ask that you soften any hard or rough spots in my heart. I want to only bear goodwill to others, to your children. Ease my anxiety and fill my head with kind thoughts of love for those I know and love and those I will meet in the future. Erase any judgment and open my eyes to the beauty within those I am surrounded by. Everyone has a gift I can accept. Let me see it and relish in their uniqueness and personality. Open my mouth to kind words and an easy laugh filled with genuine warmth achieved by living in harmony with you. Open my hands to assist any in need and open my mind to the natural beauty of this world and the people I greet. For this and anything that you know I need, I thank you. You are the living example of love I want to emulate. Amen.

Yes, I agree that revenge and anger attract evil stuff in our lives, but sometimes it's easier said than done to stay away from these bad vibes, and that's why prayer is very important. - Danwil Reyes

Danwil you are so right. There are many things about walking in God's path that are difficult. Prayer is the link that gives us hope that we can allow God to prevail. Cindy Rae

I've always tried to surround myself with positive people. The anger can really take a toll when you hang around it too much. Peace is the perfect word of the day. Thanks for sharing. - XO, Elisa

I may forgive as in "don't let it bother me anymore" but I'll probably keep my distance from these people. Tamar(a)

Tamar(a) I understand very well. This is something that has troubled me in the past, but I do think it is ok to geniunely forgive, but feel no need to stay in relationship with them. Cindy Rae
