After accepting Jesus, what matters most to our relationship with God: law, love, or both?

In the New Testament, you are given salvation, hope, and knowledge that your future is secured through your repentance of sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ. You will spend eternity with your Father and Jesus Christ when you join God's family of believers. Does that mean that you have no rules to follow, no law? In one sense, yes, because despite ourselves and our human frailty, God accepts and loves us. But in another sense, there is still an expectation that you act as God asks us to act. With God, what matters most is both law and love. Love one another, share your riches, do not intentionally harm others, keep chaste when single, act honorably to your spouse, and honor the Sabbath and all of the commandments. The bottom line is everyone should be the best person they can be at all times. When you have failed, ask for forgiveness and try not to repeat your errors.

Prayer:

Lord, do not let me forget my obligation to be honorable and to believe. These two are like a knot tied securely to prevent two pieces of rope from slipping away from each other. Let me carry my knot always in my heart, mind, and mouth. I pray that my actions will be considered the best way to be and will always show my belief. I want to remain joyful for your grace and, at the same time, mindful of my promise to be as you want me to be. Forgive my slips and help me regain my footing quickly and happily. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen
