October 11 - When Receiving Praise, Immediately Give Thanks to God
Finding Your Creative Bones® - Daily 365 Day Devotional with Tangle © 2023 Cindy Rae Fancher, CZT
Imitate the Apostles. When you receive praise, immediately give those thanks to God.
Do you seek praise from others to feel good about yourself? It is so easy to fall into this trap. In many ways, we are taught to seek praise from birth. Yet, as a child of God, it is not what we should look for or work for. It is a struggle; it feels good to have someone praise us, especially when we have done something we are pleased with. This is something to work on within ourselves.
One thing to consider as you receive praise is to immediately give thanks to God for the ability that allowed you to achieve. Share your praise to God with the one who complimented you. Your joy in praising God could be the example they need, resulting in their walk with the Lord being transformed. You never know what can happen or how the Lord can use a moment. Giving God compliments imitates the actions of the Apostles. They never accepted praise personally; instead, they gave the glory to God. Perhaps you can challenge yourself to follow in their footsteps.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are the glory of all things precious. You make all things possible; you make me possible, and I am grateful. You allow me to hear positive things about my actions so I do not lose hope, and I know I achieve these things through you. You teach me and help me. You guide me with the Holy Spirit and save me through Jesus Christ. I have my beautiful life only through your love, and I am grateful. What else can I do for you, Lord? I am here waiting to meet your needs. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen
