How much can you learn from Judah's Past?
In the Old Testament, there are many descriptions of how one person's lack of faith and refusal of God brought great terror and pain to Judah and Israel. The people endured such horrors because they refused to follow the one true God. God was filled with great anger over their actions, which was justified as the people grew increasingly evil. At times, the people grew strong and learned from Judah's past.
Their learning and remembering God led to significant periods of happiness, prosperity, and growth. When the people returned to follow God as their king, they were true believers. God's judgment changed to favor his people.
Then later, Jesus saved us from our base sins, from ourselves, and we were blessed that he redeemed us for the Lord. But it is still important to consider how important it is to favor the Lord with your thoughts and actions. Be careful not to turn your back on the miracle of God, still present everywhere today.
Prayer:
Loving God, as a human, I know my moods and interests change daily and sometimes hourly. This challenges my consistency regarding you and my actions. Because you made me, I assume this is your anticipated result. Sometimes the inconsistency makes me feel bad about myself. I would appreciate your nudge of acceptance when I waver, a reminder that this will pass, and once again, I will feel all is right. If I could remember to keep putting my feet forward in acts of faith, no matter how I feel and think, I know all will be fine as I stay present to your miracles. Amen.
