March 23 - Let Me Know When to Use Only My Prayers

Finding Your Creative Bones® - Daily 365 Day Devotional with Tangle © 2023 Cindy Rae Fancher, CZT

When to walk away and use only my prayers.

Today, we are reminded that we risk our beliefs when we spend time with those who do not believe. We are greatly affected by those we spend time with and the company we keep. Most of us probably heard this from our parents, which we did not want to hear or think of. It has been a reminder for a very long time.

For it is no business of mine to be judging those who are outside; but it is yours to be judging those who are among you; As for those who are outside, God is their judge. So put away the evil man from among you. (1 Corinthians 5.12-13 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

You may have reason to be concerned if you continue to stay in contact with those who do not believe and act as believers do. Slowly, like a river eroding the bank to consume the good soil, you risk the good in you being consumed. You may become increasingly weak in your convictions. Be cautious about convincing yourself that you are immune, as this may be a warning that you are already lost.

Prayer:

God, you are the judge of all humans. I do not want to judge, but I see I can choose those in my life. It is my responsibility to be wise.

Holy Spirit, the instructor of wisdom, please help me make sound choices every day for those I spend time with. Guide my decisions and my heart. If I can help someone find God, let me do that, but protect me from the evil they may have if they cannot be convinced. Let me know when to walk away, and use only my prayers to help them. I look to the Holy Trinity to keep me from allowing anything to tear me away from the Lord, the Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ. Amen.

I like the term, Holy Spirit, the instructor of wisdom. The word instructor reminds me to be a listener.
