January 8 - Are there boundaries on the wonders God can work?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2026

Do you believe there are boundaries on the wonders God can work? Recognize and accept that miracles do exist.

In the Bible, God has several conversations with Abraham. In one conversation, God informs Abraham that he and his wife, Sarah, will have a son within a year. Abraham and Sarah laughed at this. They were 100 and 90 years old, respectively. Yet within a year, Sarah bore Abraham a son, Issac. Issac was born with the promise from God that he would become a ruler of many and that many children would be born of his line. As the truth unfolded, God's predictions came true. A miracle?

While we may not be called to be another Abraham, Sarah, or Issac, do you think God has miracles for you? Can you think of a time when you could not explain how something happened or turned out? Looking back on it, can you see that there were forces at work you did not control? A miracle? Miracles do not have to be significant in size to be extraordinary.

Have you encountered a living example of what God can and will do for you and us? Have you seen that there are no boundaries on the wonders God can work? Do you still question whether or not God is there and active in your life and our world? Why does your faith waver? Can you become steadfast in your belief and conviction? He is there with you, with all of us. You must remember Issac and be reassured that God is real, miraculous, and ever-present.

Prayer:

Lord, God, Father of all of us. In the past, I have wavered in my belief and faith. Please forgive me. I ask you to put the thought of Issac in my mind when I struggle to consistently leave my trust in you. Issac is the example I will hold up to enable my faith to overwhelm my concerns and inspire awareness of your joy. I will take great comfort from knowing you are there for me, my loved ones, and the world I cherish.

Instill in me actions of faith that are so strong that others also discontinue their doubt. As a result, together, we will work to fulfill our destiny.

I recognize that you are a miracle in my life. Without you, there would be no light, no need to persevere. With you, all hope exists. Father, accept my prayer for the strength of consistent belief in the name of your son, my savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
