January 18 - In God, Do You Still Have Shadows Over Your Life?

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2026

Your goal is to recognize and remove shadows over your life.

What types of thoughts fill your mind and heart? Where do they lead you? Be aware that they could result in unfaithful actions. Unfaithful actions and thoughts become shadows over your life. This results in a breach of your faith.

Have you allowed yourself to become a shadow believer, half just and half false in thought or action?

Jesus found himself with his disciples.

"And he said to them, Have even you so little wisdom? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside is not able to make him unclean, Because it goes not into the heart but into the stomach, and goes out with the waste? He said this, making all food clean. And he said, That which comes out of the man, that makes the man unclean. Because from inside, from the heart of men, come evil thoughts" (Mark 7.-18-21 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

We must strive to be whole, solid in thought, heart, and action, and firm and committed believers of Christ and our Lord. The Lord compels us to remember him, wake up, and return to him if and when we stray.

To ease our struggle, kneel before God in prayer, asking the Lord to remove the shadows of your heart and mind so you can always remain in the light.

Prayer:

I ask you, Father, to remove anything impure from my life. I include my thoughts and actions in this request. Let me grow closer to you, Lord, and leave the treacherous and dark behind me.

You have this power, and by choosing you, I know you will share that power with me. You are the only one capable of this gift, and I ask that you share it with me so that I might be free from my sin and demonstrate my love for you. Touch the little places within me with your freeing love. I hunger for you and your solace. Holy Father, creator of all, I speak this prayer in your loving son's name, Jesus Christ. Amen

Since losing my beloved husband of 59 years, I find myself much closer to God. I talk to him everyday and I know he listens because of the outcome of things. Thank you again for this well needed prayer.

What a great reminder to us to be vigilant about what we let into our lives. My mom once had a teacher who wouldn't watch the news or creepy or violent television shows or movies. He said that he didn't want that bad energy inside of him. Thanks for a wonderful post.

That teacher knew the truth we are deeply influenced by what we put in our heads... unfortunately after it is in our mind it affects our heart and soul.

I have to remind myself also... I don't think we can ever do it enough.
