Navigating and stopping the negative influence of family on who you are.
Do not assume that the destiny of your father is yours also. You have choices.
Do not assume you must follow the path of your mother, aunt, uncle, or cousin.
The way is yours to choose.
You have a destiny of your own, but where it leads is between you and the Lord.
You have a partnership to fulfill.
Pray if needed to break the chains of the past. Many will never shed the sorrow a family's history can have. But you can if you choose to. Prayer can bring you strength and comfort.
Pray for forgiveness and truly repent. Pray not only for yourself but for all you know have suffered. You cannot change the past, but you can heal the future. Then, God can gift you peace.
Guide the fulfillment of your destiny through your actions. Know that you will influence some who are around you, but never change those who came before you. Let the influence of family on your life move away from your mind, and you will never forget. You can stop the cycle of the past affecting the future.
Prayer:
Father, every child grows up wanting to love and emulate their family. Unfortunately, there are things in my family, all families, that I and others are not proud of. With your help, I can stop any negative influence of family, accept that the past is past, and grow a future that is more joyful, happier, and aligned with you. Please help me help others do the same. I know you are the true God, and all things are possible through you. I believe in you. With you, I can overcome what was and become what is better than today. Your trust in me and my trust in you are bonds I treasure and want to inspire myself and others with. With your help, I will foster that inspiration. I call out today in gratitude for your love. I offer this prayer for forgiveness, guidance, and acceptance in your son's holy name, Jesus Christ. Amen

INFLUENCE

Another beautiful prayer and what a great post. One of my granddaughter's is going through the "breaking of the chains of the past" and I pray always that she has the strength move forward.
Cindy: Very timely. Just today my wife came to realize how she had been interpreting a difficult situation as a projection of a very difficult relationship she had with a sociopathic relative. Just recognizing that has the potential to positively impact how she deals with it.
What an honest prayer!
I appreciate how plainly you named the tension - loving family while asking God for protection and clarity. That kind of surrender takes courage.
Thanks for the gentle reminder that boundaries can be an act of faith, not rejection.
I'm so happy for you that you have found a way to break the generational trauma.
