Judging others is an easy trap if we do not stop our thoughts.
...if you have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory, do not take a man's position into account.
For if a man comes into your Synagogue in fair clothing and with a gold ring, and a poor man comes in with dirty clothing,
And you do honour to the man in fair clothing and say, Come here and take this good place; and you say to the poor man, Take up your position there, or be seated at my feet;
Is there not a division in your minds? have you not become judges with evil thoughts? (James 2.1-4 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
Partiality, a form of judging others, is a grave sin before the Lord. Judging others is an easy trap you can fall into. You look at someone and make a "judgment call" of them. You are allowing your eyes to convince your heart and mind of the worthiness of one of God's precious children. It happens every day, and when it does, you also judge yourself, and the result is that you are not as faith-filled as you may have thought. To judge another is also to pass judgment on ourselves, not good judgment. Look at it as a failure unworthy of your journey to Christ.
You must try hard to change yourself; it may not be easy, but it is possible with the Lord's help. With him, you can make the change. Always consider whether your thought is worthy of God when thinking of another. If not, think of what Jesus would do in your situation. What would he think of the person you are making a judgment on? How would he see the person? Try this approach one person, one situation at a time. Over time, you will change as you put on the mind and heart of our sweet Savior.
Prayer:
Jesus, today I come on my knees asking you to forgive me for all the times I judged another. I know it was wrong, and I want to stop imprisoning others and myself with my thoughts. Through you, I know I can change. Please ask the Holy Spirit to speak to me often about my thoughts that are unfit for you. I see the guidance of the Holy Spirit can transform me. I pray for this help and thank you for your love and guidance. I humbly place this prayer at your feet in your precious name. Amen
