As you walk through life, you will have opportunities to make choices. Choose wisely.
Evil often lurks where we do not expect it. In 2 Samuel, the story of Amnon and his evil toward his sister is not the only instance in the Bible of the horrors that lurk in some people. In Matthew, we learn of King Herod's order to kill all the male children in Bethlehem so that he could kill Jesus. He was fearful of the Messiah and the change. It seems he innately understood what would happen.
To save Jesus, heaven and those on earth took action to ensure he was nowhere near Bethlehem when the tragedy occurred. The Magi were loving and protective. An Angel of the Lord spoke to Joseph. Joseph listened and moved Mary and Jesus to Israel.
As you walk through life, there will be opportunities for choices that, while perhaps not as critical as the Magi's and Joseph's, will be important for someone or something to remain or become aligned to serve God's purpose. Do not discount what may seem unimportant. You have no idea what evil you may affect or prevent. Be open to letting God or his angels approach you.
Prayer:
Father, you and your angels have come to the rescue throughout history. I am thankful for you and them. I offer you my will and actions to support the needs you have for me. I will look to you for guidance and open my mind and heart to a sign from your angels. I believe, and I am thankful. I try to follow Jesus' example and become a better person daily. As that happens, I feel more secure and happier with my journey. I feel peace knowing that you forgive my sins and accept me as yours, with no reservations. I know it, and I love you more for it. Your grace humbles and encourages me at the same time. Thank you. Amen.
