April 25 - Use Your Time to Help Those Who Are Lost Find Jesus

Finding Your Creative Bones® - Daily 365 Day Devotional with Tangle © 2023 Cindy Rae Fancher, CZT

Be courageous. Use your time to help those who are lost find Jesus.

But go and take to heart the sense of these words, My desire is for mercy, not offerings: for I have come not to get the upright, but sinners. (Matthew 9.13 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

What do we understand about justice? So many Factors go into the creation of the actions people take. Their history and family history are a thread that winds through their actions, as a thread is woven into cloth. We must examine how that thread compels us to act toward others and God. Those threads often contain bias, yet our job is to acknowledge that bias and eliminate judging others. You must be wary of the results. If you are unaware of yourself, you can be affected far more than those you judge during your life and on your final judgment day.

Jesus tells us that he is not worried about the upright. Instead, he is concerned for those who are lost. Perhaps you can use your time to help those who are lost find Jesus, rather than assuming you have the right to predict whether they are worthy of your time and effort. No one will be lost to God by trying.

Prayer:

Unblemished, Lord, free me from the threads of bias I have inherited and developed. I am sorrowful and troubled by this. I see how these are emotions born from my family's experiences and my own. Yet this bias is wrong, no matter the past. Those in the past are not responsible for me and how I act and feel today. Yet I allow them some control over my life. Remove that control and free me from the bondage of judgment. Clear my heart and mind so I may start anew with you and all I know and meet. I want to be one you are not concerned with. I want to help bring those who need you to you. I know this means I will need strength in some cases and might be afraid; in those cases, I will need your courage. You walked the streets and loved everyone there, even the Pharisees. Let me imitate you and love everyone. Let me show them that love and know I left no one thirsting for you. Amen.
