April 17 - Promises broken, deny the possibility of what is supposed to be

Finding Your Creative Bones® - Daily 365 Day Devotional with Tangle © 2023 Cindy Rae Fancher, CZT

What is a promise to you? Promises broken deny the possibility of what is supposed to be.

A promise made and kept to God becomes a future of joy, happiness, and wisdom. Promises broken deny the possibility of what is supposed to be.

In 1 Kings, we learn of the man of God who broke his promise to God and died from a lion attack. He had specific instructions from God on how to act, but he let himself be tricked by another man.

How do you view promises? What do you consider a promise to God?

It is not unusual for people to bargain with God during difficult times, but how often do they live up to their end of the bargain? Our Father may understand the deal or promise made in desperation as a plea, a prayer rather than a promise. Your Father in Heaven loves you and understands that many things that cause us pain prompt an instinctive urge to ask for help. He understands. You won't know how God will think if he asks you for something and you choose not to carry it through. That result is unknown unless you use scripture as your guide.

Prayer:

God, you know the promises of my heart, those you have requested, and those I made with purpose or haste. I ask only that I remember and work to deliver these promises. I don't know what will happen if I don't, but I do know that failing to try to honor my commitment is a sorrow I don't want to carry. I want a light heart full of the joy of promises delivered. I appreciate your patience with me, Lord, and your graciousness to me is present every day. I am grateful for your blessings. Amen.

Promises I make, or God asks, please, Lord, help me keep.

Great tangle for this lesson.
