Do you have the strength to master listening to God's call?
"And God said to Moses, I am Yahweh:" (Exodus 6.2 Bible in Basic English (BBE))
When God urged Moses to instruct Pharoh to free the Israelites, Moses asked who am I to talk to, Pharoh? He felt he was not up to the task. Yet God called him and expected Moses to fulfill his destiny to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.
Have you ever felt as Moses did? That you are not worthy of the expectation of you? Does it make you want to ignore his call? You are not alone in this. But, it does not end the call. When you love someone, you stay the course and wait in patience for their response. Do you think God loves you any less than anyone else?
Do you hear his call and feel compelled to respond but are afraid? Consider this. He calls each of us to serve, kneel, and be forgiven with love. To be sure of his love and to believe. Can your belief overcome your fears? What actions can you take to gain a fullness of spirit and heart in the Lord by acting on his call?
God calls, do you hear? In prayer, he continues his call and conversation with us. Don't be surprised if he grows louder and louder each day if you try to ignore him. Consider praying to him so you can hear what he is asking.
Prayer:
God, what is it you are asking me to do? How can I serve you when I have so little to offer? I feel unworthy or unable to take the actions I think you need from me. Yet I know you can give me the strength to overcome this. You are the only one who can. I trust you to provide me with the resolve to take action and make the situation yours. You know my heart and soul, so you will only ask me to do what I can. Yet I am afraid, challenged, perhaps even frozen in my anxiety. Clear my mind of all that interferes with your call.
I do believe in you. I sacrifice my concerns to you and will take action with your strength. I am grateful for your love and belief in me. Let me do your will. Let me have the strength to make listening for God's call a continuous activity I never neglect. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray for your fortitude. Amen
