Day 199 - Remembering How Jesus Felt

Finding Your Creative Bones® 365-Day Devotional © 2023

Confused about what is next? Try remembering how Jesus felt.

On the third day two people were going to be married at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there:
And Jesus with his disciples came as guests.
When they had not enough wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine.
Jesus said to her, Woman, this is not your business; my time is still to come.
His mother said to the servants, Whatever he says to you, do it.
Now six pots of stone, every one taking two or three firkins of water, were placed there for the purpose of washing, as is the way of the Jews.
Jesus said to the servants, Make the pots full of water. And they made them full to the top.
Then he said to them, Now take some, and give it to the master of the feast. So they took it to him.
After tasting the water which had now become wine, the master of the feast (having no idea where it came from, though it was clear to the servants who took the water out) sent for the newly-married man,
And said to him, Every man first puts out his best wine and when all have had enough he puts out what is not so good; but you have kept the good wine till now.
This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee and let his glory be seen openly; and his disciples put their faith in him. (John 2.1-11 Bible in Basic English (BBE))

Jesus began to perform miracles at the wedding in Cana. Like many of us, Jesus felt he wasn't ready to start his mission. But the strong words of his mother, Mary, convinced him he had no choice. Jesus loved and respected Mary. He could not turn away from her request. The time had come to begin showing his strengths to others.

When have you felt less than ready for an action you knew you had to take? Did you overcome your concern? Perhaps remembering how Jesus felt, you will feel more comfortable taking the steps you need for your faith. Learn how to put your worries aside and lose your desire to hesitate. When acting for faith, you are not alone, just as Jesus was not when he called upon the Father in prayer to turn the water into wine. The Lord will protect you in the ways that truly matter. Acting for him and believing with a whole heart guarantees you everlasting protection in the only kingdom that matters. You may know pain here, but there will be no pain in the home of God. You have choices. Choose those that help build God's kingdom on earth and ultimately take you home to the Lord with a happy heart made whole with f accomplishment for your Father.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, fill my heart with strength and skills to share our Father with others. Remove the quiver of doubt that lingers at the edges of my mind when I am afraid. Strengthen my steps to take me where God would have me go. Fill my voice with the spirit of Jesus so that others may feel the joy I feel knowing you, God, and Jesus are leading my life. You pick me up when I stumble and brush the tears from my eyes when I feel sorrowful. I thank you for your guidance and love. With you, God, and precious Jesus, I can overcome. In Jesus Christ's name, I pray. Amen.
